Members are reminded that any announcements for Council must be given to the Chair, along with details as to where supporting material can be found, prior to the commencement of the meeting. The Chair will then make the announcement and where the material is located. Members are also reminded that District 12 STBU allows the distribution of any material without the consent of the Executive or Chair of Council.

ON TIME MOTIONS TO

June 14, 2007

STBU COUNCIL


An On Time Motion is a motion submitted by any member by the deadline in accordance with our rules. On Time Motions are presented in this document as written by the Mover/Seconder. On Time Motions are subject to change by Steering if required to put them in order. A motion to a meeting remains the property of the Mover/Seconder until such time as it is moved for debate at that meeting. As such, it may be altered by the Mover/Seconder any time up until it is moved for debate. A motion only becomes the official position of the Union if endorsed by a majority vote conducted in accordance with our meeting rules.

From Executive:

1. BIRT D12 STBU Council endorse the Toronto/York Region Labour Council’s "Respect People Work Communities" campaign.

2. BIRT that D12 STBU Council take the following actions as an expression of its support for the June 29th National Day of Protest organized by the Assembly of First Nations:

a) send a letter to Phil Fontaine, National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, notifying him that OSSTF District 12 STBU officially endorses the National Day of Protest;

b) promote solidarity events being organized around the protest and encourage membership participation in them;

c) organize an OSSTF contingent with the D12 banner.
