The Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) is now in its third year as a District-wide committee.  In our first year we produced a unique classroom tool for teachers-the Safe Space Door Hanger.  This iniative resulted from a member’s discomfort with homophobia at her worksite.  This year our committee plans to continue its efforts to ensure that all schools/worksites are safe spaces for gay and lesbian staff and students.

The OSSTF District 12 website contains valuable curriculum resources which you can access and download through the GSA link.  One of the committee’s priorities for this year is to up-date these resources.  Please let us know if there is something additional that you would like to see there.  At our November meeting we will be offering a workshop to members interested in conducting anti-homophobia workshops in their own schools/worksites. 

Membership in the GSA is open to all District 12 members, regardless of sexual orientation.  Please consider joining this year’s committee, or sending a representative to attend as a GSA Liaison to your school.

Our meetings are held the third Monday in the month, on the fourth floor (library)  Please watch for flyers for confirmation of dates and location.
