Black History Includes LBGTQ History. 

Black History Month, established in 1976, is celebrated in February.  This is the 175th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the British Empire.  The Act to abolish slavery received Royal Assent on August 28^th 1833 and became law throughout the British Empire.  The Act came into force on August 1^st 1834.

What is a Positive Space?

A Positive Space challenges the patterns of silence that continues to marginalise lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and queer students, staff and faculty even in environments with anti-discriminatory and inclusive policies.   A "Positive Space" is one where the individual contributes to the creation of an environment that welcomes sexual diversity. It suggests that you are ready to respond favourably to those who are marginalised because of sexual orientation or gender identity, or who themselves feel hesitant to speak out positively.
