Reel Learning webcast addressing the topic of video-games and learning
Special guest speaker Jason Della Rocca will give a brief overview of the video game industry and highlight careers associated with this moving-image industry.
Jason is the executive director of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA), a professional society committed to advancing the careers and enhancing the lives of game developers. In 2008, Jason was honoured with the inaugural Ambassador Award at the Game Developers Choice Awards. As the spokesperson for the IGDA, Jason has appeared in countless news outlets (e.g., Wired, Nightline, LA Times, NPR, Wall Street Journal, G4) and has spoken at conferences around the world.
In tandem with the webcast a study guide will be distributed that examines imagery from the art exhibit Into the Pixel (intothepixel.com) and also presents secondary-level students with career paths and skills necessary to excel within the interactive entertainment industry.
*Into the Pixel is an exploration and celebration of the art of the video game, curated by interactive industry veterans and experts from the art establishment.* (2007, intothepixel.com)
This webcast is a complimentary service provided by the Toronto International Film Festival Group. All teachers are welcome; if you are interested in joining the webcast, please email reellearning@tiffg.ca to register and for instructions on how to join.
