ON TIME MOTIONS TO SEPTEMBER 20, 2007 STBU COUNCIL
An On Time Motion is a motion submitted by any member by the deadline in accordance with our rules. On Time Motions are presented in this document as written by the Mover/Seconder. On Time Motions are subject to change by Steering if required to put them in order. A motion to a meeting remains the property of the Mover/Seconder until such time as it is moved for debate at that meeting. As such, it may be altered by the Mover/Seconder any time up until it is moved for debate. A motion only becomes the official position of the Union if endorsed by a majority vote conducted in accordance with our meeting rules.

BIRT STBU Council request that the STBU Executive produce and distribute to each STBU member by the end of October 2007 a summary of the relevant definitions and legislation regarding teachers’ obligations in the event of the discovery, disclosure, or reasonable suspicion of student abuse, neglect, or criminal behaviour.

2. BIRT the following be the interim policy of STBU: OSSTF STBU supports the creation of one secular, publicly funded education system that caters to the two official language groups in Canada.

3. BIRT OSSTF District 12 STBU:
a) request that the Executive inform its members as well as the Toronto District School Board that it officially opposes active military recruitment in its schools
b) request that the District 12 Executive meet with the TDSB to review using the military as a co-op education placement.
