How do I find out what pay category I'm in? Pay category, or level, is determined through the Certification Department at the provincial office of OSSTF. You must apply through that department for your first or a new Certification Rating Statement, depending on whether you are a new teacher or looking for a pay upgrade based on having completed an appropriate Additional Qualifications Course. IMPORTANT: In order to ensure a pay change is retroactive to the beginning of the school year, you must provide a letter indicating that you have applied for a Certification Rating Statement change to the attention of the Administrator of Records, Toronto District School Board, 5050 Yonge Street, Toronto (416-397-3247), no later than December 15 in the school year in which the change applies. GET A DATE STAMPED RECEIPT FOR ANY DOCUMENTATION YOU PROVIDE AND KEEP IT ON FILE. If you miss the December 15 deadline, you miss out on the retroactive pay. NOTE: When you receive your new Certification Rating Statement from provincial office, you must provide a copy of it to the Records Department. GET A DATE STAMPED RECEIPT FOR ANY DOCUMENTATION YOU PROVIDE AND KEEP IT ON FILE. Only after the Board has that document will they adjust your pay.
